Spiritual Intelligence: Grace And Supplication FM

And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

Good morning friends. Allow me to submit to you that there are unseen forces that influence the affairs of humankind. This interaction can be compared to that of radio waves, and a radio. The radio picks up its signal and relays broadcasts based on the band and frequency it’s tuned into. So, even though we can’t see these waves with our eyes, they are present.

In the same vain, the human spirit can be influenced by either good or evil forces. Our spiritual orientation is the catalyst that attracts and connects to either signals. For instance, a healthy spirit picks up and broadcasts good signals, it is tuned-up through; prayer, meditation and self-discipline.

Once set, we just turn the radio on and we are connected to the programmes on the channel. This remains constant if the signals are not hijacked and our geographic location remains the same. When we shift geography as a result of fear, doubt, unbelief, disappointment, despair, frustration, pain etc., we just need to gather some strength like Samson, check the bandwidth and start tuning until relocate our channel!

With this in mind, let us rewind back to our opening verses. In these passages of scriptures, the prophet Zechariah speaks about the launch of a new radio station. One I would like to brand Grace and Supplication FM. Its frequency will be advertised to the people of God, and once they follow the instructions they will track the signals, and begin to transmit programmes led by the spirit of grace, and the spirit of supplication.
Once this starts, they will be drivers for change and transformation as we draw close to end of time. In the words of the psalmist:

Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power; in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth.

So, in the day of these broadcasts, God’s people shall voluntarily yield themselves to be used of God through the spirit of grace, and the spirit of supplication.

Spiritual Intelligence: The Early And The Latter Rain

I will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.

In biblical times there were two seasons of the year in which the rain fell abundantly; the latter part of October and early November (the Hebrew month of Heshwan) came the early rain, and the latter part of March and the first part of April (the Hebrew month of Nisan), came the latter rain.

Good morning friends. Rain is vital for planet earth, as such it can be defined as the nectar of physical life. Without rain human, plant and animal life will cease to exist. In the same vain, the church ceases to exist without the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the life of God, so it provides the nutrients that we need to function effectively. In some of the last words to His very eager disciples, Jesus said;

“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”

But stay here until… He knew they will be fighting a loosing battle, He knew their cause was futile without an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

The early or former rain poured as recorded by Luke in the book of acts, giving birth to the church. As we draw close to the end of the age, we will witness another great outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and this season in known as the late or latter rain. With this in mind, James presciently wrote these encouraging words to us;

Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.

As we draw into a season of persecution we need the refreshing of the Holy Spirit. Just like how Peter who denied Jesus thrice for fear of his own life, suddenly received faith to stand and preach fearlessly, so also we need the Holy Spirit to be His true and faithful witnesses. Without the Holy Spirit we will make shipwreck of our calling.

In closing this morning, I leave you with words from the prophet Zechariah;

Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime, and he will answer with lightning and showers. Every field will become a lush pasture. How foolish to ask the idols for anything like that! Fortune-tellers’ predictions are all a bunch of silly lies; what comfort is there in promises that don’t come true? Judah and Israel have been led astray and wander like lost sheep; everyone attacks them, for they have no shepherd to protect them.

Spiritual Intelligence: A Few Good Men

The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.

Isn’t it just lovely when we complete our task or project? There is this sense of accomplishment beyond human comprehension that takes over as we reach the finish line. Difficult to articulate in words, so I lend from Peter’s lexicon – joy unspeakable and full of glory!

Friends it’s great to start, important to finish, and wise that we finish well. As difficult as initiating a start is, some still step-up to the challenge. In fact on the subject of starting The Rabbi’s declared to His audience;

Many are called, but a few are chosen.

But in between starting and finishing there are many casualties. The pain, the mundane, the failures, the disappointments, the weather, the oppositions…, are all strategically arrayed like an obstacle course – all reasonable excuses for not finishing or perhaps not finishing well.

However we find the key to finishing well just before the verses quoted in my opening line;

This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.

In our connection to The Lord, we find the blueprint for building. It’s like a state of the art Satnav that leads us with clear instructions, correcting us even when we go astray; precept upon precept to that finish line.

For some start, few finish, but only a handful finish well… So I pray for the strength to start, the courage and determination to press to the finish line, and most importantly the wisdom to finish well in all our endeavours.
