Spiritual Intelligence: Like In The Days Of Noah…

And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

The Rabbi explaining His Second Coming to his audience.

The picture he painted is one of normality. He uses verbs like; eating and drinking. He even mentioned people falling in love and getting married, and perhaps hoping to start families of their own – all good stuff, nothing dramatic. Simply put, business as usual, then suddenly!

In Paul’s view, as seekers and those that have been enlightened, we should not be taken unawares. He said these words to his friends in Thessalonica;

Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.

While the governments say; Peace and Security. Humankind is so incapable of governing herself, let alone provide peace and security. Governments and institutions are overwhelmed, policies and ideas are exhausted, technology and innovation have been hijacked as weapons of mass destruction, societies are disintegrating – we are running on empty.

Every other day we hear governments posturing against each other (rumours of war), spying on each other – even so called allies. Mistrust, greed, self interest; and like clay and iron they put up a show of unity.

Amidst it all we are not meant to be in the dark, we should be able to draw insight from the prophecies as we watch for these signs. We should be praying, preaching and teaching. For us, it can’t be business as usual, it is harvest time! We cannot afford to be at ease, for we are called to be witnesses of His love and forgiveness.

Father, as we lift up our eyes to your hills for help, give us the strength and courage to be true and faithful witnesses. Let the words of our mouth, and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in your sight. Open our minds and spirits to be sensitive to your words, and discerning of the times. All these we ask in Jesus’ name – amen.

Spiritual Intelligence: Donkeys Leading Lions

Donkeys Leading Lions…

This phrase has been used so many times to describe; the fate of soldiers and the politicians that lead them to senseless wars, or that of soldiers and some of the Generals that have led them in wars.

Perhaps the best possible origin can be traced to this Arabic proverb;

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep

With this as a backdrop, I hope you will agree with me that the need for leadership, and effective succession planning strategies cannot be over-emphasised. In the words of The Rabbi to His disciples;
Follow me, and I will make you… This statements my friends, graphically explains the process of discipleship. Followers are bound to be transformed and made through the process of following.

If our apprentices are not being transformed, If we are not making leaders out of ordinary everyday people, then I’m afraid we have to go back to the drawing board.

Sadly, like King Saul many have subjected the soldiers to a fast at a time when they need “the bread of life”, as a result we have too many weak believers, and very high mortality and casualty rate within our ranks.

The Rabbi said this to His audience about the leaders of their era;

Jesus replied, “Every plant not planted by my Father shall be rooted up, so ignore them. They are blind guides leading the blind, and both will fall into a ditch.”

I pray that we arise from the depths of despair, receive courage and fulfil our destiny!

This couple obliged to have their photo taken by a complete stranger (me) yesterday. I like their sense of style. God bless them!
