Spiritual Intelligence: The King’s Business

And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

Good morning friends. Let us ponder over the last line again for a while: “They immediately left their nets and followed Him”

As well as faith, Peter and Andrew demonstrated speed and trust in their response to Jesus (the word). With this in mind, I am reminded of a statement by David to Ahimelech the priest while he was on the run from Saul:

…Is there not here on hand a spear or a sword? For I have brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.

So, when it comes to our destiny, there is no time for title-tattle because our obedience and timing could be connected to the destinies of others; in some cases, millions of others. In a letter by Paul to friends in Galatia on this subject, he penned these words:

But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

I’m afraid, time is not going to stand still for us; rather, we have to redeem the time we have lost through our years of rebellion. From the verses we just read, we see Paul diving in straight away. In like manner dear friends, we need to desist from wasting precious little time in doubt, fear, unbelief, or even trying to figure out how to help God work these things out; for heavens resources are only deployed when we step out in faith. Once we take timely action in obedience, we avail options to God in fulfilling His agenda for planet earth.

The key thing here is training our spirits to hear from God, for we do not want to run ahead of ourselves like in the case of Ahimaaz; and this comes through the discipline of prayer and meditation on God’s word.

We want to be on alert, we want to hear from God, and we want to act decisively with timing and precision – because the King’s business requires haste!

Spiritual Intelligence: The Gathering

He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that He may judge His people: “Gather My saints together to Me, those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.” Let the heavens declare His righteousness, for God Himself is Judge. Selah

This prophetic psalm highlights God’s position as the judge of all. This call is for the saints (those that have made a covenant by sacrifice). This call is for the called out ones; it’s a call for the church.

Good morning friends. In the Old Testament’s legal system, in order for the death sentence to be passed, their needs to be two or three witnesses. The patriarch emphatically declared in his written work:

he shall not be put to death on the testimony of one witness.

Physical death is only cessation of our body; our spirit continues existence in sleep mode until the day of judgement. While alive, we can also experience spiritual death through sin and rebellion against God; this affects the harmony between our spirit and God’s, until the process of realignment through repentance. To strengthen this argument, Paul writes to friends in Rome:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This principle of witness or testimony is embedded all through scriptures, affirming God’s edicts, decrees, verdict and judgement on the affairs of humankind. This also strengthens the authenticity of biblical texts, and its prophetic credentials. So, in line with this principle, let’s look at two New Testament testimonies or perhaps witness statement.

Paul wrote to the church in Corinth in the spirit of fatherhood, amidst a culture of sin and rebellion:

This will be the third time I am coming to you. “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.” I have told you before, and foretell as if I were present the second time, and now being absent I write to those who have sinned before, and to all the rest, that if I come again I will not spare

And Peter also made this profound statement to friends in Jerusalem, indicating that the time is upon us:

For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?

The call is upon us dear friends, Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock”. The call for the gathering of the saints for judgement; for without judgement, there will be no rewards or punishment.

Spiritual Intelligence: Its A Come As You Are Party!

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Good morning friends. The walk of faith is a come as you are party. The invitation is extended to all, regardless of race or socio-economic status.

The body is the outer dressing of our unseen but eternal spirit. It can be likened to a costume, so the real you is actually your spirit, in the same way our profession is what we do, but not necessarily who we are. With this in mind, while Jesus was manifested as The Son of God, people came to see Him dressed-up in all manner of costumes. One came to see Him dressed-up as a teacher, one as a leper, one as a prostitute, one as a tax collector, one as an adulterer, one as a ruler, one as a dead man, one as a wealthy business, one as a blind man, one as a cancer sufferer, one as a Roman Governor… Different costumes, but mostly similar issues, similar to those we face today. They all had an audience with Him, and in typical style, He made a lasting impression.

So back to my opening verses. Friends He still calls today, it’s an open invitation. Its not a fancy dress, but a come as you are party, so, come with your pain, come with your shame, come with your gains, come with your losses. Come with sicknesses, diseases, addictions – just come as you are, and God will give you lasting peace!

Come now, come today. Tomorrow might be too late for you.
