The Words Of Our Elders: Martin Luther King (Jnr), (1929-1968)

The church must be reminded that it is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state. It must be the guide and the critic of the state, and never its tool. If the church does not recapture its prophetic zeal, it will become an irrelevant social club without moral or spiritual authority.

~ Martin Luther King (Jnr)

The words of our elders, are words of wisdom.

Spiritual Intelligence: By My Spirit

Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came. And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with Jesus of Nazareth.”

But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are saying.” And he went out on the porch, and a rooster crowed.

And the servant girl saw him again, and began to say to those who stood by, “This is one of them.” But he denied it again.

And a little later those who stood by said to Peter again, “Surely you are one of them; for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it.”

Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this Man of whom you speak!”

A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And when he thought about it, he wept.

Good morning friends. The story of Peter’s denial of Christ substantiates the argument for Jesus’ resurrection, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Without a shadow of doubt the disciples had an encounter that empowered them to be described as being in this world, but not of this world. An encounter that transformed them to God agents, forsaking worldly pleasures and false comfort for the transcending glory of the kingdom of God. This was only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. Hence Jesus said to them;

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

The Holy Spirit worked on all Jesus’ modelling, preaching, teaching and demonstration of power, that the disciples had been witnesses and partakers of; making them true and faithful witnesses. In the words of encouragement from prophet Zechariah to Zerubbabel (the governor of Judah under the Persian rule), during the building of the temple, at a time when the challenges were overwhelming, and the work of rebuilding almost grinding to a halt;

Not by power, nor by might, but by my spirit

Friends, we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit! We need to pray, fast and wait on The Lord to be fortified by His spirit for the coming season of tribulation and persecution, and it starts now.

In the words of king David;

For You have armed me with strength for the battle;
You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.

In the principle of types and shadows; Strength for the battle: Old Testament, power to be witnesses: New Testament!
