This Sunday @ Healingsprings fellowship

Our ideology shapes our outlook, actions, and lifestyle. A core part of our ideology is our faith or beliefs. In other words, what we know to be true, and what we believe matters.

For example, in a bid to move the Church from inaction to social action, the writer of John’s Gospel emphasised that miracles were Signs, and the role of the Holy Spirit was to inspire the Church to continue the work of Creation.

By this, he shifted the thinking of the church from being solely dependent on ‘spiritual’ intervention, thereby moving them towards the use of their minds, skills, and talents collectively; in making real and lasting change in their communities.

This Sunday I will be building on the foundations I laid last week where we looked at Jesus’ life, teaching and ministry. In fact Paul described him as the, ‘Image of the invisible God’ – (Col 1:15). Therefore it is fitting that scriptures are interpreted through his framework.

This position however, puts to question the doctrine or notion of Biblical Inerrancy, as we see Jesus exposing gaps and correcting wrong ideas in Scriptures and traditions. Hence he is the last interpreter of the Scriptures.

Join us this Sunday for: I and the Father are One (John 10:30)

CBE: New Testament, 2 Peter and Jude

Making good progress, we move on to Peter’s second letter and Jude’s letter tomorrow. Peter’s second letter was written around AD 65 while Peter was imprisoned by the emperor Nero in Rome. Some Theologians believe that it was written to strengthen Jude’s letter: addressing doctrines that refute Jesus’ second coming, godly living, resurrection of the dead, and judgement. With historic and scriptural references he presents an exhortation to holiness, love, faith and patience. My favourite line being:

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

We will discuss who he was; who his audiences were; possible reasons behind his writing; and other questions drawn from our weekly agenda.

This week we are reading pages 359-368 so join us if you can, or meet with friends and family.

Community Bible Experience operates like a Reading Club…

Participants agree a weekly reading plan, then every Friday we meet in a relaxed fashion for an hour to discuss the following simple questions:

  • What’s something you noticed for the first time?
  • What questions did you have?
  • Was there anything that bothered you?
  • What did you learn about loving God?
  • What did you learn about loving others?

Afterwards, we enjoy light refreshments while we catchup, pray, challenge, and encourage each other.

We recommend a copy of The Books of The Bible by Biblica because of it’s contemporary design and translation, and we set ourselves a weekly target to read eleven pages.

  • (7:00 – 8:00)pm on Fridays
  • 52 Arcadian Avenue, Bexley, Kent DA5 1JW

If you need help with setting one up in your home, community space, church or perhaps offices; please get in touch!

Healingsprings fellowship’s Big Sunday Celebration!

Big Sunday Celebration can be best described as a community Christian festival. So in the spirit of thanksgiving, together we: sing, pray, give, celebrate life, discuss current affairs, present thoughts from Biblical themes, and encourage one another; like one big family!

(6:00 – 7:30)pm on Sundays

Bexleyheath Academy, Woolwich Road, Bexleyheath, Kent DA6 7D

There are free parking spaces directly in front of the school and on adjacent streets

Today’s lecture is entitled, “Baptism: Water and The Spirit”. With the Ice Bucket Challenge, and the public’s appetite to be identified with the cause; it seems fitting to shed some light on this doctrinal pillar of Christianity. We will be exploring the origin of baptism, it’s power, and spiritual significance to us as followers of Christ.

Why not drop-in for a life-changing experience? This 90 mins might end up being a catalyst for some awesome things.
