History teaches us that there are only two ways any system can move linearly: forward or backwards.
Whenever a system fails to move forward or innovate from within, it faces disruption by a rival system.
For instance, we see this with the impact of the Enlightenment in Europe on the Church. A process which lead to the rise of atheism, industrialisation, technological advancements; creating the society we know today. 
Therefore, amidst digitisation in the 21st Century, for the Church to make progress and come out stronger, the burden for reform rests on our shoulders.
