Spiritual Intelligence: Need For Speed

Just press record, stick it in your pocket and off you go! It records your distance and speed, you compare with family and friends. Skiing has got a new buzz.

Wow – I honestly love this!

Sunday morning radio on Radio 4 highlighting our need for thrill and speed. One skier said these Ski Apps have added a new dimension to their skiing experience, but guards at ski resorts are bewildered with health and safety concerns. Cars are crash tested at fifty miles per hour, skiers are clocking hundreds per hour!

With this in mind I’m reminded of the speed of our culture and lifestyle choices. Research show that Narcissism and Self Importance is on the rise. We demand to be rich, we demand to be happy. We demand to have it all, when we want it and how we want it. But at what cost? Who is footing the bill? Better still, what is paying the bills.

Like those guards (probably loathed by these speed junkies), and in the words of The Rabbi;

“Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide enough for all the multitudes who choose its easy way. But the Gateway to Life is small, and the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it.

God help us!

Lovely! Hardships lead to a strong and versatile character. Life can be easy but not the same forever. It’s how we treat it.
