Content and Packaging…
In the Rabbi’s effort to explain the importance of Content and Packaging, he took the minds of his audience to a winepress.
In those days, once the grapes were pressed, they are poured into wineskins (a bag made from goat skin for example, and used for holding and dispensing wine) and sealed.
The newly pressed wine finds a lovely new home, fitting perfectly to the space within the wineskins. But If the same wine is dispensed, and poured into new wineskins, it suddenly expands as a result of change in temperature and other factors, thereby splitting the wineskin. In the words of Zig Ziglar,
“You cannot climb the ladder of success dressed in the costume of failure”.
Friends, we will be doing ourselves and humanity a disservice if what we have on the inside cannot effectively find expression outwardly, and vice versa.
So content and packaging. Not one or the other.
