Self-Sabotage… This occurs when we exhibit behaviour patterns that might seem helpful to us in the short term, but ultimately undermine our future.
They are self-destructive comforts and escapisms that we use to cope with the pressures of life. John Milton articulates this concept brilliantly in Paradise Lost with these words, “He who reigns within himself and rules his passions, desires, and fears is more than a king”.
The enemy within is sometimes more formidable than the ones without. So before we set out to change the world, perhaps we need to start from within.
